How do I start a game?

Whether you're playing solo or joining others, a host is required to start. The host chooses a nickname and category - then they can invite others with their unique Session ID, or continue to play on their own.

How many people can play?

There can be up to 24 players in a session. When hosting, you'll be asked to select your group size: solo, duo, or groups of 3+ players.

Keep in mind — the more players, the longer the game may take.

How does voting work?

Each player taps their preference between pairs of options, one at a time, until they land on their top choice. They can also pass on both choices. Nobody sees anyone's picks throughout the session. When everyone's final choices match — that's mīsmo.

What if the group doesn't pick my number one choice?

Not everyone is going to have the same top pick — that's showbiz. If you don't collectively get mīsmo in round one, everyone's top options go head-to-head. If the group is still deadlocked, you can leave it to chance and let mīsmo decide via flip it.

What is flip it?

If no one is budging on their top picks, flip it lets mīsmo make the final call for you by randomly choosing one of the top options — leaving the winner completely to chance.

What is instant mīsmo?

A host can activate instant mīsmo by holding down the pass button at any point and mīsmo will generate a random winner — perfect for when you truly don't want to make any decisions.

Do I have to share my location to use mīsmo?

No. Some categories request your device location to surface relevant options (e.g. nearby restaurants) — but this is optional and not required to play.

You can also manually enter any location and play without granting Location Services permission. Entries, whether automatic or manual, are never stored on our servers.

What does a Host do?

Host responsibilities:

• Choosing the category
• Generating the session ID
• Managing the session
• Starting the game
• Removing players if needed
• Building the Custom category

In a Custom game, the host has access to the category builder. It's up to the host to enter the custom category name and options.

Groups are encouraged to communicate with their host regarding categories, genres, and custom entries.

Why would a host remove someone?

A host can remove inactive users so that others aren't waiting on their votes to finish the session. The winning choice will be calculated using the remaining session members' votes.

A host might also remove a user just for being a punk or because of some inside joke.

Can I mīsmo solo?

Of course! Sometimes deciding where to eat or what to watch is even more tiresome when it's only you. Make the experience easier with mīsmo :)

The Session ID isn't working.

First things first: make sure the host hasn't already started the session, as this will block new guests from joining. Session IDs are not case-sensitive but double-check you've entered it correctly. If the problem persists, have the host create a new session and wait for everyone to join before starting.
