Privacy Policy

mīsmo prides itself on not asking for personal details. Here's how we operate:

To host or join a session, you will be prompted to create a nickname — when the session is done, all data is cleared. Name, DOB, email, etc. are never requested.

What we collect

• Nicknames. When you join a game, you choose a nickname alias. It's visible to the other players in your session only, and is removed once the session ends.
• Anonymous device ID. We assign a random identifier to your device to maintain your place in an active session. It contains no personal information and is not linked to you in any way.
• Game choices. Your in-game votes are processed to determine consensus. They are not logged or stored beyond the active session.
• Location. Some of our categories request your device location to surface nearby options (e.g. dining) — but this is entirely optional and not required to play mīsmo. You can manually enter any location of your choice and play without giving mīsmo Location Services permission. If you choose to share your location, either manually or via Location Services, it's only used within the session and never stored on our servers.

What we don't collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifying information. We do not track you across apps or websites. We do not run advertising. We do not sell data.

Third-party services

• Firebase (Google). We use Google Firebase Firestore to temporarily hold session data while a game is active.
• The Movie Database (TMDB). Movie and TV content is sourced via the TMDB API.
• Yelp Fusion. Restaurant and local venue options are sourced via the Yelp API.
• Deezer. Music content is sourced via the Deezer API.
• Open Library (Internet Archive). Book options for the READ category are sourced via the Open Library API.
• Google Books. Additional book data for the READ category is sourced via the Google Books API.

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum data needed to fetch results.

Data retention

Sessions are temporary. When a session ends, the associated data is no longer active. There are no persistent user accounts and no permanent mīsmo records tied to you.

Children

mīsmo doesn't collect personal information from anyone — children included.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be at this URL.
